Altura is back for 2025!
Altura means "altitude," and in this case, it represents an ensemble grown on farms nestled along the flanks of the Andes. The imposing Galeras Volcano has long enriched the soil with its ash, gifting the land with the fertility and vitality that have sustained generations of small-scale farmers.
Gracenote had the incredible opportunity to cup coffees to choose for the Altura blend in Colombia earlier this year. This is our 8th season working with Azahar, all to find some of the best Colombian lots to share. What makes this series special is not just the great coffee, but the great people who work to support its journey from seed to cup. From sustainability, environmental impact, all the way to improvements on the farms, mills and personal lives of these farmers. Buying a coffee like this one helps to ensure great coffees in the future, and better lives for the families who help bring them to us now.
Our Altura blend was cultivated by six producers: Hector Hermes Canchala Romo, Alvaro Ivan Muñoz, Maria Yanira Lasso, Jose Leonso De La Cruz, and Luisa Marina Guerrero Delgado. It is grown between 1900 and 2100 masl, washed, fermented for 18-36 hours, and dried for 8 to 15 days on patios and raised beds.
We truly hope you enjoy this coffee, which carries so much history before arriving in your hands - a coffee cultivated just a little closer to the sky!
