Introducing this beautiful, clean, naturally-processed Yirgacheffe from the Chelchele washing station. Grown and harvested by Shitaye, a female farmer, this coffee stands out with a soft peach acidity layered with meyer lemon sweetness and a green tea finish. You won't want to miss out on this lovely brew!
The Chelchele washing station is located in the Gedeb district in the south of the Yirgacheffe coffee region. Gedeb is one of the districts, also called woredas, of the Gedeo zone. The area’s red/brown fertile soil is also planted with shade trees of Cordia Africana, Acacia, and Ensete trees.
The Chelchele washing station is located and named for the village (kebele) of Chelchele where the washing station includes 12 standardized washing tanks and 360 drying beds. This lot from Chelchele is a Natural process where ripe cherry deliveries from smallholder contributing producers are sorted by hand. The best cherries are taken to raised beds where they dry in the sun for up to 21 days.
